PRIVACY

Draft. A lawyer has to review this before Outbid Tube takes real money, and every [BRACKETED] item has to be filled in. It also has to be checked against what the site actually runs — if you add analytics or email later, this page has to change with it.

This policy covers what Outbid Tube collects when you browse the board, open a video page, or pay for a rank. It sits alongside the Terms.

Who is responsible

What we collect

The site is deliberately small. There are no accounts, no login, and no advertising trackers.

  • What you submit at checkout. The YouTube link, the amount you name, and the crowner credit you choose to add — handle, website, logo, social handles. All of that is published on the board on purpose.
  • Video metadata we fetch. Title, channel name, subscriber count, and thumbnail for the video you submit, retrieved from YouTube so visitors can recognise it. That request tells YouTube the video was looked up.
  • Payment records. Stripe collects and holds card details and billing identity. We never see or store a card number. We keep Stripe’s confirmation identifiers and the amount so the rank can be assigned and reconciled. Stripe also collects your email to send the receipt, and its own privacy notice applies to that.
  • View counts. Loading a video page increments that video’s “Outbid Tube views” counter. Deduplication uses a key in your browser’s own sessionStorage, which never leaves your device and is gone when you close the tab. The stored count is a number per video, not a record of who viewed it.
  • Technical request data. Our host processes ordinary server-log data such as IP address, user agent, and referrer to serve and secure the site.
  • Anything you email us. Kept as long as needed to answer and to hold a record of complaints or notices.

What we do not collect

No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, no ad-network pixels, no profiling, and no selling of personal data. There is no account, so there is no password.

Why we use it

  • To perform the contract. Taking payment, creating or raising an entry, showing rank, and displaying the crowner credit you paid for.
  • Legitimate interests. Keeping the board honest, preventing abuse, debugging, and defending legal claims. You can object to this processing — see your rights below.
  • Legal obligation. Keeping tax, accounting, and complaint records where the law requires it.

The board is public

Rank, amount paid, the video, your handle, your logo, and your website link are all public. Search engines can index them. That publicity is the thing you are paying for — so do not submit a link, logo, or handle you do not want shown. Asking us to remove an entry does not undo a completed payment, and removed entries may persist in backups for a limited time.

Who we share with

  • Stripe — checkout and payment confirmation.
  • Hosting and database infrastructure — currently Netlify and a managed Postgres provider, so the site can run.
  • YouTube / Google — video metadata lookups, and the embedded player on video pages, which loads from YouTube and is subject to Google’s privacy policy.
  • Advisers, authorities, or a buyer of the service, where we must share to comply with law, enforce the Terms, or transfer the project.

Some of these providers are outside the [EEA / UK / your region]. Where that applies we rely on their standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

How long we keep it

  • Public board entries stay while the entry is on the board, and in history and backups for a limited period afterwards.
  • Payment identifiers and amounts are kept as long as accounting, tax, fraud, and dispute handling require.
  • Server logs are kept for a short operational period.
  • View counters are aggregate numbers and are kept indefinitely.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to some processing, and to withdraw consent where we relied on it. You may also complain to your data-protection authority. Email [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL]; we may need enough detail to find your records.

Content you published yourself — your own site, channel, or handle — does not become private just because it also appears on the board, but you can ask us to remove the entry.

Children

The service is for adults and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has used it, contact us and we will delete what we can identify.
